The successful candidate, will be involved in the development of a range of mechanical engineering products, taking designs from initial concept through manufacturing to client delivery.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a Mechanical Design role within a Engineering environment ideally with exposure to the offshore/Oil and Gas sector working with similar products.
Candidates will ideally be degree qualified (HND considered) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with experience using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD. Experience with calculations and structural analysis is also a must – Experience with FS2000/ Staad/ MathCAD is advantageous.
This role is available for an immediate start
Hours – Mon – Friday 40 hours Hybrid working available at managers discretion
Job Description
* Undertake mechanical engineering activities across projects, including equipment design, design verification and lifting analysis.
* Preparing, checking and/or approving design calculations, reports, manufacturing drawings, layout drawings, and associated documentation to recognised codes and standards (e.g., DNV, FEM, Lloyds, AISC, LOLER, PUWER, HSAW.)
* Carry out mechanical analysis and calculations using software such as FS2000/Staad, Mathcad and FEA software.
* Collaborate and contribute to the compilation of Factory acceptance documents, ensuring equipment is tested in accordance with project requirements.
* Generate engineering documents in the form of design packages, reports and technical notes.
* Drive component selection for equipment such as Carousels, Tensioners, Reel Drives, Handling Equipment, Winches and associated equipment.
* Develop technical drawings in collaboration with Draftspersons.
* Apply knowledge of deck machinery, lifting equipment and methods to ensure mechanical and structural suitability of designs.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
* Degree qualified in a relevant discipline – Mechanical Engineering
* Experience in design for manufacture – ideally with experience on projects for Oil and Gas/ Offshore
* Experienced using 3D Modelling software – Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
* Experience using FS2000/Staad / MathCAD for FEA Analysis
* Excellent communication skills
* Strong organisational and planning skills
* Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure
