How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Fire Risk Assessor (Junior to Intermediate)

Location: Within 30 minutes of NE31 (Hebburn, Gateshead, Newcastle, Sunderland, South Shields, Washington, Jarrow, North Tyneside)

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established property and building consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering surveying, compliance, fire safety, and property-related services across the UK. The business works closely with housing providers, residential property portfolios, and public sector clients, providing specialist advice and compliance support throughout the property lifecycle.

The team has a strong presence in the North East and is particularly keen to speak with candidates who are local to the area and can comfortably access sites across the region. This role would suit someone with around 1+ years of Fire Risk Assessment experience who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive environment. The organisation is happy to invest in training and professional development, making it an ideal move for someone still building their technical expertise.

    What They're Looking For

    • Minimum 1 year of experience carrying out Fire Risk Assessments.
    • Experience within residential environments such as apartment blocks, HMOs, sheltered housing, and social housing portfolios.
    • Familiarity with Type 2 and Type 3 Fire Risk Assessments.
    • Ability to produce clear, practical, and achievable assessment reports.
    • Working knowledge of passive fire protection, compartmentation surveys, and fire door inspections.
    • Understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, Building Safety Act, and associated guidance.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Fire Risk Assessment qualification (Level 4 or equivalent recognised training).

    Desirable

    • Membership of a recognised fire safety body.
    • Level 5 Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
    • Foundation or Intermediate Fire Risk Assessor registration.
    • Relevant qualification in Fire Safety, Health & Safety, Building Surveying, or a Built Environment discipline.

    Technical Skills

    • PAS 79 methodology.
    • Fire compartmentation surveys.
    • Fire door inspections.
    • Strong report-writing capability.
    • Microsoft Office proficiency.
    • Ability to interpret fire safety legislation, standards, and guidance.

    Personal Attributes

    • Self-motivated and organised.
    • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
    • Able to manage multiple sites and priorities effectively.
    • Commercially aware, without requiring business development experience.

    Package

    • Salary increase capped at approximately 10% above current earnings.
    • Strong commitment to training, development, and professional progression.
    • Suitable for candidates looking to grow from a junior or developing assessor position into a more established role.

Key Requirement: Candidates must already be based within a reasonable commute of NE31, ideally within 30 minutes of Hebburn and the surrounding areas. This is one of the most important criteria for the role.
