How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    As a Scientific Communications Officer in Oxford, you'll create and manage engaging content to support the organisation's outreach and communication efforts.     Description

    Key responsibilities of the Scientific Communications Officer include:

    Develop and deliver scientific communication materials tailored to diverse audiences.
    Manage the organisation's website and social media channels, ensuring content is up-to-date and engaging.
    Coordinate the production of newsletters, press releases, and reports.
    Collaborate with internal teams to create content that aligns with organisational objectives.
    Support the planning and delivery of events and workshops.
    Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and suggest improvements.
    Act as a point of contact for media and public enquiries.
    Ensure all communications adhere to the organisation's branding and messaging guidelines.Profile

    The successful Scientific Communications Officer will have:

    A qualification in structural biology or a scientific related topic.
    Excellent communication skills, particularly in writing, editing, presenting and proof-reading.
    Be confident with strong interpersonal skills.
    Excellent organisational, prioritisation and timekeeping skills.
    Can-do attitude to work, open to learn new skills.
    Strong technical skills including use of Microsoft Office.
    Previous experience in a communications role or project management skills is desirable.
