How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

This is a hands-on maintenance position supporting the day-to-day upkeep, repair and compliance of a large and busy estate. The successful candidate will carry out a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs and general maintenance duties.
This role would suit someone with previous building maintenance experience who is practical, reliable, customer-focused and comfortable working in a varied environment where no two days are the same.
Please note: This is not purely a facilities inspection role. Alongside planned maintenance activities, the successful candidate must be willing to undertake less desirable tasks when required, including:

    Unblocking toilets
    Clearing and maintaining drains
    General reactive maintenance issues
Manual handling and movement of furniture/equipment
Routine water hygiene flushing checks (carried out every Wednesday alongside the wider maintenance team)

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance works across the estate
Complete routine compliance inspections including water hygiene, emergency lighting and fire safety checks
Perform minor repairs and basic adaptation works to buildings, fixtures and equipment
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency issues
Assist with furniture moves, equipment replacement and room set-ups as required
Work closely with housekeeping and operational teams to maintain high standards throughout the estate
Complete all maintenance records accurately using electronic systems and tablets
Ensure workshops, stores and work areas remain safe, clean and organised
Follow all health and safety procedures and safe working practices at all times

    On-Call Opportunities

There is an out-of-hours call-out rota within the maintenance team which attracts additional payment.
Candidates will not be expected to participate immediately and will only join the rota once they have demonstrated sufficient competency and confidence within the role.

    What We're Looking For

    Essential

Previous experience in building services or general maintenance
Proven practical experience carrying out repairs and maintenance tasks
Good understanding of health and safety requirements
Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
Comfortable dealing with urgent and reactive maintenance issues
Strong customer service and communication skills
Basic IT skills, including the use of tablets and maintenance systems
Full UK driving licence with no endorsements
Flexible approach and willingness to support a wider team

    Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds, recognised apprenticeship, relevant trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience

    Desirable

Trade qualifications in a maintenance discipline
Broad knowledge of building maintenance and facilities management
Experience carrying out compliance checks and planned preventative maintenance

    Why Apply?

    Competitive hourly rate
    Weekly pay through Manpower
    Monday-Friday working pattern
Opportunity to gain experience within a respected and professional organisation
Potential for additional earnings through on-call duties
    Immediate start available
If you're a practical, proactive maintenance professional looking for your next temporary opportunity, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today as interviews will be arranged as suitable candidates are identified.
