Reporting to the Plant Manager you will:
Operate and monitor the biomass plant from the Control Room using the site's SCADA control system.
Ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of boilers, superheaters and associated process equipment.
Carry out routine plant inspections and respond to operational issues to maximise plant availability.
Monitor plant performance and make operational adjustments to optimise efficiency.
Perform water quality testing and adjust chemical dosing to maintain boiler performance.
Support environmental compliance by ensuring plant operations meet all regulatory and permit requirements.
Act as an Authorised Person, supporting permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out and safe systems of work.
Report plant defects and work closely with the maintenance team to resolve equipment issues.
Maintain accurate operational records, logs and shift handovers.
Work safely as part of a 24/7 shift team, promoting high standards of health, safety and housekeeping.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
NVQ Level 4, ONC, HNC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
Previous experience operating boilers or process plant within Biomass, Power Generation, Energy from Waste, Recycling, Waste Management or a similar industrial environment.
Experience operating plant via a DCS or SCADA control system.
BOAS qualification or equivalent boiler operating experience.
Knowledge of permit-to-work systems, plant safety procedures and water treatment processes. WAMITAB qualifications would be advantageous.
Willingness to work a shift pattern than includes Days and Night shifts
