How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Ready to engineer your positive impact? Then join Tractebel, part of the ENGIE Group, and our 5,600 passionate experts around the globe, driven by shaping a more sustainable world every day. It’s your chance to be a part of the adventure of the century: accelerating the energy transition – while enhancing people’s lives through meaningful projects. Are you ready to make a difference? Then we look forward to meeting you!

    What we offer

    * Tractebel is more than a place to work. It’s your chance to evolve alongside top experts on impactful projects around the world. It’s an environment built on team spirit, where you can reach your highest potential. With opportunities for quick career progression in a dynamic and challenging environment, your growth knows no limits.

    * We actively support the development of our people through complementary trainings within the ENGIE Group, and international career evolution is possible.

    * We offer a competitive salary package, and generous holiday allowance of 28 days plus bank holidays. We also cover subscription fees for one relevant professional institute per year.

    * We value autonomy and offer flexible work patterns.

    * Our offices include an in-house canteen and gym facilities to support your well-being.

    * To celebrate our successes, and just have fun, we get together for team sports, afterworks, team-building activities, our annual party, and more.

    Your mission

Are you ready to lead with purpose in the nuclear industry? We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineering leader to manage and develop the UK Civil Engineering group, the largest discipline group in Tractebel UK. This is a discipline leadership role, focused on people development, technical quality, nuclear safety and delivery performance.

The Group Manager – Civil Engineering will report hierarchically to the Head of Civil Métier and operationally to the UK Engineering Manager. The role will work closely with the UK Engineering Manager and other discipline leaders to support engineering governance, resource planning, technical quality and effective multi-disciplinary delivery, while maintaining a clear focus on the Civil Engineering group. Through this collaboration, the role will also provide appropriate exposure to engineering management practices and help develop a broader understanding of multi-disciplinary delivery models.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Leading and developing the UK Civil Engineering group, with a strong focus on technical excellence, nuclear safety, delivery quality, people development and team spirit.

    * Managing team workload, capacity, recruitment, training, performance reviews, career development, coaching and mentoring, including support towards Chartership with relevant professional institutes.

    * Providing civil engineering technical knowledge, oversight, resolution and escalation where required.

    * Overseeing technical studies, document quality and compliance with IMS procedures, relevant engineering standards, Codes of Practice and project requirements.

    * Ensuring civil engineering inputs are well planned, coordinated and aligned with project, engineering and departmental objectives.

    * Contributing to effective multi-disciplinary project delivery and business opportunities, in coordination with the UK Engineering Manager and other discipline leaders.

    * Developing understanding and readiness to operate in a multi-disciplinary delivery environment, through appropriate exposure to engineering management practices.

    * Building strong working relationships with métier leaders in France, Belgium and Engineering Centres.

    * Supporting commercial activities through proposal reviews, technical input and client engagement.

    * Working with a limited group of civil engineering colleagues to strengthen resilience, knowledge transfer and succession readiness, rather than designating a single successor.

The role sits within a matrix organisation and requires strong collaboration across UK and international teams. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to influence across different reporting lines, work effectively with the Head of Civil Métier and the UK Engineering Manager, and adapt as Tractebel UK continues its ‘Project to Business’ transformation.

We would love to hear from people with

    * Degree qualification in Civil / Structural Engineering

    * Chartered Engineer or expected to complete Chartership, with demonstrable experience of influencing key engineering decisions

    * Experience in a management function steering a team of engineers.

    * Experience in reinforced concrete calculation and design.

    * Working familiarity with relevant technical Codes of Practice and Industry Standards (Eurocodes, British Standard, and ETC-C the applicable code for HPC/SZC).

    * Experience in working across multi-disciplinary teams.

    * The leadership maturity, communication skills and collaborative mindset to grow into broader engineering leadership responsibilities over time.

    Who you are

    * Proactive individual who can work collaboratively within a multicultural team.

    * Agile and self-motivated, with a focus on improving personal and team performance and able to generate innovative outcomes to challenges.

    * Experience working on major infrastructure projects and can demonstrate ability to deliver high quality work packages to schedule.

    * You enjoy new challenges and are keen to learn and willing to take responsibility whilst also wanting to support others within our team.

    * Experience working in a highly regulated industry based in the UK, e.g. nuclear.

Find out more about Tractebel, our activities and why you should join us here!
