The Opportunity
An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Team Leader - Structural Engineering to lead a growing structural engineering team based in Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Structural Engineer with proven leadership experience to take ownership of project delivery, mentor and develop engineers, and play a key role in the continued growth of a successful regional office.
Working across a diverse portfolio of projects within sectors including education, healthcare, residential, commercial and urban regeneration, you will combine technical excellence with strong client and people management skills to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead and manage a team of Structural Engineers and Technicians, providing technical direction and day-to-day support.
·Oversee the successful delivery of multiple structural engineering projects from concept through to completion.
·Ensure technical quality and compliance with current UK standards, Eurocodes and Building Regulations.
·Manage project programmes, resources, budgets and deliverables.
·Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, contractors and other project stakeholders.
·Represent the business at client meetings, design reviews and project presentations.
·Support business development activities, identifying opportunities for repeat and new business.
·Mentor, coach and develop engineers at all levels, supporting professional development and Chartership.
·Promote collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to achieve coordinated project delivery.
·Drive continuous improvement in technical standards, project delivery and team performance.
·Ensure quality management procedures and internal technical standards are consistently applied.
Essential Skills & Experience
·Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
·Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or MICE) or equivalent professional status.
·Extensive experience within a UK structural engineering consultancy.
·Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
·Strong technical knowledge of steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry design.
·Excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes and relevant design standards.
·Demonstrable experience managing client relationships and multidisciplinary project teams.
·Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and resources.
·Excellent communication, leadership and decision-making skills.
Desirable Skills
·Experience contributing to business development and winning new work.
·Knowledge of BIM processes and collaborative design environments.
·Experience delivering refurbishment, conservation and existing building projects.
·Passion for mentoring graduate and early-career engineers.
·Interest in sustainable and low-carbon structural design.

£60000.00 - £80000.00 per year
