Are you someone who enjoys getting hands-on with complex mechanical systems, finding weaknesses early, and helping engineering teams build more robust products?
This advanced technology business, operating in a highly regulated environment, is expanding its mechanical verification capability and is looking for a Mechanical Design Verification Engineer to join a collaborative, cross-disciplinary engineering group.
This is a role for someone who likes variety, ownership and technical depth. You will be involved across the full product lifecycle, working closely with design, electronics, systems and manufacturing teams to ensure products are safe, reliable, compliant and ready for production.
Why this role could be interesting to you:
Exposure to full lifecycle product development from early prototypes through to release
A genuinely hands on test and verification environment
Close collaboration with design engineers and manufacturing
Opportunity to influence design decisions early
Investment in improving verification processes, rigs and test capability
A technically challenging setting within a high-reliability industry
What you will be doing:
Mechanical Verification & Planning:
Defining and delivering verification activities against requirements and standards
Reviewing designs, drawings, tolerances, materials and assemblies to identify risk
Creating test plans, strategies and specifications
Maintaining traceability between requirements, tests and evidence
Testing & Analysis:
Running environmental and durability testing such as shock, vibration, drop, thermal and ingress protection
Carrying out structural, fatigue and lifecycle testing
Designing and building fixtures, jigs and rigs
Analysing results, identifying failure modes and feeding back to design teams
Producing clear, concise verification reports
Prototypes & Samples:
Building and managing mechanical prototypes and test samples
Supporting rapid iteration and design improvements
External Testing & Compliance:
Preparing equipment and samples for third-party testing
Supporting external test programmes
Ensuring internal activity aligns with regulatory and industry standards
Continuous Improvement:
Maintaining and calibrating test equipment
Improving verification processes, methods and documentation
Managing verification assets and consumables
What we need from you:
*
Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Degree, HND or equivalent experience)
*
Hands-on experience in mechanical verification or validation testing, ideally with hand held consumer goods, medical devices or similar
*
Strong understanding of materials, tolerances and manufacturing processes
*

*
Confident using measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers and torque tools
*
Practical workshop skills
*
Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
*
Structured, analytical approach to problem solving
*
Comfortable working cross-functionally and communicating technical findings
*
Proactive mindset with the confidence to challenge designs constructively
*
Full UK driving licence
*
Knowledge of environmental and reliability standards
*
Experience designing test rigs, jigs or fixtures
*
Familiarity with FMEA or DFMEA
*
Statistical analysis of test data
*
