How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Principal Product Safety Engineer - V06208

    Location: UK (Hybrid/On-site as required)
    Contract: 12 Months

    Rate: £81.05/hour Umbrella

    About the Role

    We're looking for an experienced Principal Product Safety Engineer to support the delivery of complex, safety-critical engineering programmes. You'll lead safety activities across major systems, working closely with technical authorities and engineering teams to ensure hazards are identified, risks are managed, and robust safety cases are developed throughout the product lifecycle.

    What You'll Do

    Lead hazard identification, risk assessment and safety case development for complex engineering systems.
    Facilitate HAZID workshops and coordinate safety reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
    Develop and maintain hazard logs, ensuring risks are effectively managed and appropriately documented.
    Produce safety submissions supported by robust assurance evidence.
    Work closely with technical authorities, engineering teams and customers to achieve product safety certification.
    Lead safety activities within your allocated work package and provide guidance to junior engineers.
    Contribute to safety case updates throughout the engineering lifecycle.
    Essential Skills

    Strong background in Product Safety within a safety-critical industry.
    Experience producing safety cases, hazard logs and conducting hazard/risk assessments.
    Knowledge of system safety standards such as Def Stan 00-056, MIL-STD-882E, IEC/BS EN 61508, JSP430 or equivalent.
    Experience working across multiple stages of the engineering lifecycle.
    Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
    Desirable

    Experience within defence, naval, aerospace or other highly regulated industries.
    Knowledge of safety management frameworks and lifecycle engineering processes.
    Experience supporting complex systems involving sensors, mission systems, weapons or similar technologies.
    This role would suit an experienced Product Safety Engineer looking to take technical ownership of safety activities on large, complex engineering programmes while working with multidisciplinary teams in a highly regulated environment

    £60.00 - £81.05 per hour
