How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Test Development Engineer - Outside IR35
    £45 - 55/hour 
    Cambridge | 5 days on site

    Our client is looking for a Test Development Engineer to join on a contract basis (Outside IR35), to support the development of test systems for an intitial duration of 8 months (potential to extend)

    This contract will focus on establishing robust test methodologies for their product range. You'll be responsible for defining test strategies, designing procedures, building the fixtures, and helping implement automated test solutions. The role involves working closely with engineering teams to configure and optimise test platforms, develop reusable test architectures, and troubleshoot complex issues. We are looking for somebody with a good grounding electronics, who can also work to system level to factor in the other engineering disciplines (software, mechanical, etc.).

    Duties:

    Design, develop, document and deliver automated manufacturing test solutions based on agreed rack-and-stack architectures.
    Support the manufacture, assembly, integration, commissioning and validation of test systems to ensure they meet project, production and quality requirements.
    Evaluate, optimise, debug and test equipment hardware and subsystems, with a focus on manufacturing test solutions.
    Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver test system designs and support the full test equipment development cycle.
    Produce and maintain clear technical documentation covering test system design, operation, validation and delivery.
    Investigate and resolve production test equipment issues, supporting debugging, yield improvement and process improvement activities in line with business priorities.
    Support test solutions deployed across contract manufacturing sites, including installation, commissioning and on-site support where required.
    Represent the department at project level on matters relating to test equipment development and delivery.
    Experience required:

    Experience in the design, validation and delivery of test systems.
    A good understanding of electrical and electronic measurement principles, test methodologies and test equipment.
    Experience of working through the full development lifecycle, from concept and design through to validation, delivery and support.
    Experience in delivering solutions to complex technical problems through a logical and structured approach.
