How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Site Engineer / Section Engineer

    Location: Major Infrastructure Project, West Midlands

    The Opportunity

    A leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Site Engineer and Section Engineer to support the delivery of a major UK infrastructure project. These are immediate requirements offering the opportunity to work on a high-profile scheme with the potential for a longer-term contract.

    Site Engineer Responsibilities

    * Manage day-to-day site engineering activities.

    * Carry out setting out and surveying duties.

    * Ensure site teams have the required information, resources and equipment.

    * Update machine control models as required.

    * Produce Task Briefing Sheets (TBS).

    * Coordinate and order site materials.

    * Maintain accurate daily site diaries and records.

    * Support the safe and efficient delivery of works.

    Section Engineer Responsibilities

    * Provide technical leadership and support to Site Engineers and apprentices.

    * Produce and manage three-week look-ahead programmes.

    * Review site requirements and coordinate material orders based on engineer quantifications.

    * Attend coordination and planning meetings with the wider project team.

    * Oversee daily site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

    * Mentor junior engineers and help drive project performance.

    Requirements

    * SMSTS qualification (essential).

    * Strong background in civil engineering projects.

    * Extensive experience delivering roadworks, drainage and earthworks packages.

    * Excellent planning, coordination and communication skills.

    * Full UK driving licence and ability to travel independently to site.

    * Previous experience on major infrastructure projects is advantageous but not essential
