How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Traffic Co-ordinator

    Lewisham

    Location: SE6
    Rate: £26.94 per hour (PAYE)
    Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days working from home

    The Role

    We’re is seeking an experienced Traffic Co-ordinator to support the effective management of the borough's highway network. Reporting into the Highways and Network Management team, you will coordinate street works, highway maintenance, utility works, traffic management arrangements and major events to minimise disruption and ensure compliance with the Council's statutory Network Management Duty under the Traffic Management Act 2004.

    Key Responsibilities

    Coordinate highway works, utility works and road space activities across the borough.
    Manage the full lifecycle of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs).
    Coordinate traffic management for planned works, emergency works and major events.
    Lead the Council's crane licensing process and highway licence coordination.
    Liaise with utility companies, contractors, TfL, emergency services and internal stakeholders.
    Ensure compliance with the Traffic Management Act 2004, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
    Monitor network performance, maintain accurate records and support continuous service improvement.
    Prepare communications relating to road closures, traffic management and highway activities.
    Requirements

    Experience coordinating street works, highway activities or traffic management within a local authority or similar environment.
    Strong knowledge of the Traffic Management Act 2004, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs).
    Excellent organisational, stakeholder management and communication skills.
    Experience working with highway contractors, utility companies and statutory undertakers.
    Knowledge of Street Manager and London permit schemes is desirable.
