How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role - Pastoral Support Tutor

    A well-established mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Harrow is looking to appoint a committed Pastoral Support Tutor to join its dedicated pastoral team from September on a long-term basis.

    As the successful Pastoral Support Tutor, you will provide day-to-day pastoral support for students across KS3 and KS4, helping them overcome personal, behavioural and emotional challenges that may impact their education. You will work closely with teaching staff, Heads of Year and parents to improve attendance, behaviour and engagement, deliver mentoring sessions, monitor student progress and contribute to creating a positive and supportive school culture. The role requires someone who can build trusting relationships with students while maintaining high expectations and promoting positive outcomes.

    The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people in a school, mentoring, pastoral or youth work setting. You will possess excellent communication skills, remain calm under pressure and have a genuine passion for supporting students to succeed both academically and personally.
