How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School

    Location: Hackney, East London
    Pay: £108.68 - £115 per day
    Contract Type: Full-time | Long-term to Permanent
    Start Date: September 2026 (or ASAP)
    Commutable from: Islington, Haringey, Tower Hamlets, Stoke Newington, Dalston, Clapton, Homerton, Bethnal Green, Finsbury Park and surrounding East London areas.

    Long Term Futures is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Hackney for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive team this September.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work within a nurturing school that places a strong emphasis on inclusion, student wellbeing and personalised learning. You will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access the curriculum, build confidence and achieve their full potential.

    Working alongside experienced teachers, the SEND department and pastoral teams, you will provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a variety of additional needs, making a genuine difference to their educational journey.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide one-to-one and small group support for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
    Support students with a range of SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties and SEMH.
    Adapt classroom activities and resources to meet individual learning needs.
    Deliver targeted interventions to support academic progress and personal development.
    Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and wider pastoral team to implement personalised support plans.
    Support students in developing independence, confidence and positive social skills.
    Assist with implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies.
    Record observations and communicate student progress with the wider school team.
    Promote positive behaviour through encouragement, consistency and clear expectations.
    Build strong, professional relationships that help students feel supported and valued.

    Essential Candidate Requirements

    Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker or in a similar role.
    Experience supporting secondary-aged students with SEND is desirable.
    Good understanding of inclusive learning practices and additional needs.
    A calm, patient and proactive approach to supporting young people.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
    A genuine commitment to helping every student reach their full potential.
    An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
