How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Benton, Newcastle upon Tyne

    Pay: £14.57 per hour (approximately £28,411 per year)

    Hours: 37.5 hours per week

    Contract: Permanent from day one

    Shift pattern: Rotating days, twilights and nights

    Essential: Valid Counterbalance FLT licence and full UK driving licence

    The Role

    As a Counterbalance FLT Driver, you will play an important part in keeping materials and finished goods moving safely and efficiently throughout the site.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely and efficiently

    Moving, positioning and organising goods throughout the factory

    Loading and unloading vehicles in the yard

    Ensuring materials are delivered to the correct production and storage areas

    Completing all relevant paperwork accurately and in accordance with company procedures

    Following site processes, safe working practices and current health and safety policies

    Undertaking manual handling duties, including the movement of heavy goods

    Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the working area

    Supporting general factory and yard duties when required

    Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production and operational targets

    About You

    We are looking for an experienced and dependable FLT Driver who takes pride in working safely and contributing to a successful team.

    To be considered, you must have:

    A valid Counterbalance FLT licence

    Previous experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck in a warehouse, factory or production environment

    A valid full UK driving licence

    A strong understanding of workplace health and safety

    The ability to complete manual handling and other physically demanding duties

    The flexibility to work a rotating day, twilight and night-shift pattern

    A willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

    A positive, adaptable and proactive approach

    Excellent punctuality, reliability and work ethic

    The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

    This position would suit an experienced FLT Driver seeking the security of a genuinely permanent role, guaranteed hours and the opportunity to join a stable, growing organisation.
