How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Blackstone Recruitment are working with a Further Education College in Bromley who are looking to recruit a temporary or permanent Occupational Therapist.

    Purpose of the job:

    Based at this college, the Occupational Therapist will be responsible for leading on providing specialist assessment and intervention for young people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs. This will support them to access further education and develop independence for their adult lives post-education.

    The postholder will work collaboratively with students, families, education staff, healthcare professionals and other external agencies to deliver high-quality evidence-based Occupational Therapy. This will involve creating individualised goals for students to support emotional regulation, sensory processing, engagement, participation, communication, and functional outcomes.

    Main duties

    · Manage a caseload of students with a range of learning disabilities, physical disabilities and health conditions.

    · Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for young people taking a student-centred approach.

    · Deliver individual and group interventions focused on functional skills, sensory processing, emotional regulation, motor skills, independence and participation.

    · Use evidence-informed approaches and frameworks to support student’ sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, and functional participation.

    · Contribute to the assessment and review of EHCP outcomes, appropriately using other outcome measures where appropriate to evidence therapeutic impact.

    · Adapt interventions according to individual sensory, behavioural, and physical needs.

    · Maintain accurate documentation in line with HCPC standards and organisational policy.

    · Lead on equipment and environmental adaptations, as appropriate

    Collaborative Working

    · Work closely with Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nurses, Education Staff, Pastoral Team members and Learning Support workers as part of a multidisciplinary team.

    · Participate in joint assessments, joint working, MDT meetings and annual reviews.

    · Support education staff to embed therapeutic strategies within day-to-day learning activities within the classroom and other environments.

    · Liaise with external professionals, agencies, as well as the students' families and/or carers to ensure coordinated support and a consistent approach.

    · Deliver advice, training and coaching to education and support staff.

    Governance

    · Maintain professional clinical records and reports in line with HCPC and RCOT standards.

    · Participate in supervision, appraisal and continuing professional development, as well as supporting Juniors, Assistants and Students as required.

    · Contribute to audits and quality improvement activities.

    · Commitment to safeguarding people at risk and maintain safeguarding responsibilities in accordance with organisational policy and support risk management and clinical governance processes.

    · Participate in incident reporting and learning reviews.

    · Ensure young people are supported safely during all interventions.

    · Promote a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement.

    Essential Criteria:

    -> Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy

    -> HCPC Registration

    -> Evidence of CPD

    -> Experience working with people with learning disabilities, PMLD and/or autism · Experience managing complex sensory and behavioural needs

    -> Experience of multidisciplinary working

    -> Experience completing clinical risk assessments

    -> Experience in the assessment and use of specialist equipment in seating and postural management

    ->Experience using outcome measurement tools to demonstrate impac

    Desirable Criteria:

    -> Postgraudate training in any relevant evidence-informed approaches that support sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, functional participation and engagement in learning

    -> Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
