A welcoming specialist school in Oxford City Centre is seeking a compassionate and motivated Mental Health Assistant - Aspiring Therapist to support children and young people with Autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, trauma, and additional learning needs. This Mental Health Assistant - Aspiring Therapist role provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical therapeutic skills while working alongside experienced teachers, therapists, psychologists, and SEN professionals.
As a Mental Health Assistant - Aspiring Therapist, you will provide emotional and pastoral support to children, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and positive coping strategies. You will work with children on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, supporting emotional regulation, encouraging healthy communication, promoting independence, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. The Mental Health Assistant - Aspiring Therapist will also support the delivery of wellbeing activities and contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children.
