How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrical Tester / TEGG Technician

    About the Opportunity

    We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing building services and electrical contractor with over 35 years of experience delivering electrical, maintenance and fit-out solutions across commercial environments. Our client has built a strong reputation for quality, safety and long-term client relationships and is seeking an experienced Electrical Tester / TEGG Technician to join their specialist team.

    Position Details

    * Job Title: Electrical Tester / TEGG Technician

    * Contract: Permanent

    * Department: Electrical Services

    * Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm

    * Location: Southwark/ City of London/ Greenwich/ Canary Wharf (Site-Based)

    * Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

    Working hours may vary to meet operational requirements. Overtime is available and paid where agreed in advance with your line manager.

    The Role

    As an Electrical Tester / TEGG Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out predictive, preventative and proactive electrical testing and maintenance within commercial environments. You will diagnose faults, undertake repairs, complete electrical testing and inspections, and ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

    You will also support the day-to-day delivery of planned maintenance agreements and project work, ensuring contractual commitments are achieved on time and within budget.

    Key Responsbilities

    * Carry out electrical testing, inspection and fault finding on commercial electrical systems.

    * Diagnose electrical faults using systematic troubleshooting techniques.

    * Repair, maintain and install electrical systems and associated equipment.

    * Complete comprehensive system checks and performance analysis before leaving site.

    * Verify the correct operation of safety devices and control equipment.

    * Use appropriate testing equipment and diagnostic instruments to identify and resolve issues.

    * Support colleagues with complex fault diagnosis where required.

    * Work to planned maintenance schedules and respond to reactive call-outs.

    * Produce accurate service reports and certification following completion of works.

    * Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations, industry standards and health & safety requirements.

    * Obtain and comply with permit-to-work systems where applicable.

    * Provide technical input and recommendations when required.

    About You

    To be successful in this role, you will have:

    * NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).

    * Experience carrying out electrical testing and inspection within commercial environments.

    * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

    * Good knowledge of current electrical regulations and industry standards.

    * Experience using electrical testing equipment and producing accurate reports.

    * A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.

    * Strong communication and customer service skills.

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    * A full UK driving licence is desirable.
