How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fawkes & Reece are proud to be working with a leading residential developer who are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their technical team, supporting the delivery of multiple residential developments across Surrey.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer with a background in residential development or civil engineering to take ownership of engineering packages across live projects, working closely with internal teams, consultants and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

    The role will focus on reviewing and coordinating civil engineering designs across drainage, highways, and utilities, ensuring solutions are practical, cost-effective and aligned with planning requirements.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Review engineering designs produced by civil engineering consultants, including drainage, highways and utilities, ensuring they are suitable for construction.
    Manage the engineering programme, ensuring design information is issued in line with the construction programme and mitigating potential delays.
    Coordinate approvals with key stakeholders including Local Highway Authorities, Water Authorities, Building Control and NHBC.
    Oversee the adoption process for roads, sewers and drainage systems, ensuring agreements, inspections and legal processes are completed.
    Work closely with site teams, technical departments, commercial teams and external consultants to resolve engineering issues during construction.
    Monitor engineering works on site, ensuring compliance with approved designs, specifications and required standards.The ideal candidate will have:

    Experience working within residential development, housebuilding or a civil engineering consultancy environment.
    Strong understanding of residential infrastructure, including highways, drainage, utilities and adoption agreements.
    Experience dealing with Section 38 and Section 104 agreements.
    Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage engineering issues through to resolution.
    Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with consultants, contractors and internal teams.
