How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You'll co-ordinate and prioritise facilities activities across our diverse estate, managing the Facilities team and contractors whilst ensuring statutory compliance requirements are effectively delivered and monitored.

Helping to maintain high standards across the Authority, you'll ensure facilities are well presented, vehicles remain safe and available for staff, statutory records are maintained and our buildings continue to deliver best value, efficiency and carbon targets.

    About You

To be considered as our Senior Facilities Officer, you will need:

    - Experience of supervising or managing a facilities management team
    - Experience appointing, managing and evaluating contractors
    - Proven experience applying health and safety legislation across facilities management, including asbestos, Legionella, PAT testing and ladder inspections
    - In-depth knowledge of facilities management across a wide range of services, equipment, materials and repairs
    - Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and building construction and maintenance
    - Excellent project management skills
    - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    - Good IT skills
    - A full driving licence
    - IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent practical health and safety qualification, such as Legionella, asbestos or fire safety management

The closing date for this role is 9th September 2026.

Other organisations may call this role Facilities Manager, Estates Officer, Estates and Facilities Manager, Facilities Supervisor, Property and Facilities Manager, Building Services Manager, Facilities Co-ordinator or Estates Co-ordinator.
