How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

These positions offer a varied workload across mechanical and electrical maintenance, combining planned servicing, reactive fault-finding and improvement projects. You will work on a broad range of production machinery rather than being limited to one particular process or type of equipment.

    Job Description

Working as part of the site maintenance team, your responsibilities will include:

Completing planned preventative maintenance to agreed schedules

Responding to equipment breakdowns and restoring machinery with minimal disruption to production

Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out effective repairs

Maintaining equipment such as CNC machinery, conveyors and automated production systems

Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, pumps, drives and gearboxes

Supporting the maintenance and fault-finding of PLC-controlled equipment and robotics

Identifying recurring faults and recommending longer-term improvements

Contributing to engineering projects and machinery upgrades

Helping to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and overall performance

Recording completed maintenance work and providing clear handovers

Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with site procedures

Providing practical engineering support to production colleagues when required

    Person Specification

We are looking for an engineer who can demonstrate:

Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment

A recognised mechanical, electrical or multi-skilled engineering apprenticeship

Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability

Practical experience of hydraulics and pneumatics

The ability to diagnose problems independently and work effectively under pressure

A proactive and methodical approach to repairs and maintenance

Good awareness of engineering health and safety requirements

The flexibility to support both planned work and urgent breakdown activity

Experience of maintaining CNC machinery would be particularly relevant.

Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, robotics, motors, drives, clutches or shaft alignment would also be beneficial. An HNC, HND or equivalent engineering qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.

    Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a stable manufacturing operation offering strong earning potential and a varied engineering workload.

    The package includes:

    £50,000 basic salary

    Additional shift allowance

    Regular overtime opportunities

    Potential earnings of approximately £67,500

A choice of rotating daytime shifts or fixed nights

Fridays off for the permanent night-shift pattern

    A single, Stockport-based manufacturing site

Exposure to a wide range of mechanical, electrical and automated equipment

Opportunities to contribute to engineering projects and continuous improvement work

The roles would suit candidates currently working as a Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer.
