How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Midweight Designer | Commercial Furniture Consultancy

London | Hybrid | 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Some design roles ask you to support projects.

This one asks you to help shape them.

Our client is an established commercial furniture consultancy looking for a commercially minded Midweight Designer to join their London studio on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

You'll become part of a collaborative design team delivering workplace environments for a portfolio of globally recognised organisations, working alongside architects, consultants, project managers and furniture manufacturers from the earliest concepts through to final installation.

This is the kind of role where no two days are quite the same. One week you could be developing furniture specifications for a large corporate rollout, the next you're presenting concepts to a client, coordinating technical drawings with architects or solving the practical challenges that make a workplace function beautifully.

If you enjoy balancing creativity with technical delivery and want to work in an environment where your ideas genuinely contribute to the outcome of every project, this could be exactly what you're looking for.

    The Role

You'll manage multiple workplace furniture projects simultaneously, taking ownership of the design process while collaborating closely with colleagues across Sales, Project Management and the wider Design team.

You'll be involved from the initial client brief through to installation, ensuring every project is delivered to the highest standard whilst building strong relationships with clients, architects and suppliers throughout.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Space planning and workplace layouts
    • Producing presentation and furniture specification packs
    • Technical drawings and furniture take-offs
    • Creating visualisations and graphics for client presentations
    • Coordinating technical information with clients and architects
    • Supporting finishes workshops and furniture selections
    • Assisting with tender submissions where required
    • Providing day-to-day design support across the London studio

This is a genuinely client-facing position, so you'll be comfortable presenting your ideas, discussing design solutions and confidently managing multiple projects through each stage of delivery.

    About You

We're looking for someone who already understands the pace and variety of commercial workplace projects and enjoys finding practical, creative solutions for clients.

    You'll ideally have:

    • Around four years' experience within commercial workplace design or a commercial furniture consultancy
    • Strong AutoCAD skills
    • Excellent space planning ability
    • Experience producing presentation and specification documentation
    • Confidence presenting to clients and design teams
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple live projects
    • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
    • A keen eye for detail and technical accuracy

Experience with Revit, BIM360, CET Designer or P Con would be beneficial, although not essential.

Most importantly, you'll have a genuine interest in workplace furniture, enjoy keeping up with new manufacturers and products and take pride in delivering thoughtful, commercially focused design solutions.

    Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a respected commercial furniture consultancy with an impressive portfolio of blue-chip clients and an excellent reputation within the workplace sector.

You'll work alongside experienced designers on a wide variety of projects, gaining exposure to different clients, products and design challenges whilst continuing to develop both your creative and technical skills.

Whether you're looking to broaden your experience, strengthen your workplace portfolio or simply join a business where you'll have genuine ownership of your projects, this role offers an excellent opportunity to do exactly that.

If you're a commercially minded Midweight Designer looking for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
