How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role: Interim Head of HR

    Sector: Civil Service

    Duration 6 Months

    Location: London, 3 days a week onsite.

    Salary: up to £650 UMB per day


    Sellick Partnership is currently recruiting for an experienced Head of HR to join our public sector client on a fixed term contract for 6 months. This role is offered on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 3 days a week onsite, in London.


    The Head of HR will support the HR function which is fully aligned to the delivery of the organisation’s strategic objectives, including the management of people risks. The appointed candidates will provide highly informed and sound advice to managers on all staff related issues, acting as a source of trusted advice to the senior leadership team. The Head of HR will offer thought leadership on innovation and best practice across strategic and practical HR matters, ensuring that any change is relevant and achievable for the organisation.


    The duties of the Head of HR include:

    • Being principal adviser to Executive Committee on strategic and operational staff and resourcing matters
    • Providing leadership and develop a high-performing HR team and service which meet the specific needs of the organisation, improving the output and delivery from the team
    • Providing the highest quality advice and guidance to the organisation’s senior team and staff on the full range of staff issues, including resourcing, succession, remuneration, performance management, inclusion and well-being and learning and development
    • Ensuring that HR policies and practices are informed by current best practice on equality, diversity and inclusion in the organisation, to ensure that managers and leaders are skilled to create inclusive teams, and to role model the championing of inclusion and diversity
    • Building strong internal networks to support the delivery of the organisation’s key priorities
    • Ensuring the organisation has the people, organisational design, operating models and policies in place to manage, develop and deploy resources effectively, reflecting best practice.
    • Providing cover to the Chief People Officer on HR-related opportunities, challenges and any risks as required
    • Participating actively in Executive Committee and Advisory Board meetings to provide the HR leadership perspective on people-related questions as required
    • Championing data and insight reporting and ensure that evidence bases are gathered and used to underpin initiative and policy design
    • Building on highly effective relationships across the organisation to ensure that the HR function and service meet the needs of the organisation and remain fit for purpose
    • Utilising the relationship with the organisation’s Staff Council, ensuring it plays a full role in the wider engagement of staff
    • Ensuring that line managers are skilled to support the health and well-being of staff and that HR policies and provision enable this


    The Head of HR will ideally have:

    • CIPD Level 7 qualifications or equivalent
    • Proven experience working and partnering with senior management teams in a generalist HR role
    • Experience of advising and supporting organisations through the leadership and delivery aspects of change management across a range of people issues
    • Experience in influencing and challenging at executive level with credibility and confidence
    • Demonstrable and up-to-date technical knowledge and best practice in the key strategic and operational areas of Employment Law, Employee Relations, Resourcing and Talent Management, Learning & Development, Reward and Diversity and Inclusion.
