Position: Deputy Children's Manager (Full Time)Home Type: 3-Bed SHB Children's Residential Home
Shift Pattern: 2:4 rota including sleep-ins
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy Children's Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day management of a 3-bed SHB children's residential home. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional looking to progress into a senior leadership role while making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people.
Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help ensure the home provides a safe, therapeutic, and nurturing environment where children can thrive and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Registered Manager in the effective day-to-day running of the home.
* Lead high-quality care practices and deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
* Supervise, mentor, and support staff, promoting continuous professional development and high standards of practice.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures, children's legislation, and regulatory requirements.
* Build positive relationships with children and young people to promote their wellbeing and development.
* Plan staff rotas, allocate resources, and maintain the smooth operation of the home.
* Support the development, implementation, and review of individual care and therapeutic plans.
* Work collaboratively with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and other partner agencies.
* Promote an inclusive, stable, and nurturing home environment.
* Support Ofsted inspections and contribute towards maintaining regulatory compliance and quality standards.
* Take responsibility for overseeing the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
Essential Criteria
* Minimum 1 year's experience in a supervisory or management role within residential children's care.
* Minimum 2 years' experience working in residential childcare.
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* Willingness and ability to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management if not already achieved.
* Excellent understanding of child development, trauma-informed practice, and safeguarding.
* Strong leadership, organisational, and delegation skills.
* Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice within residential childcare.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Competent in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Resilient, adaptable, and able to work effectively under pressure.
* Flexible to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-ins.
* Commitment to continuous professional development.
Desirable Criteria
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management of Children's Residential Care.
* Experience managing staff performance and supporting team development.
* Previous experience overseeing the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Experience supporting or participating in Ofsted inspections.
