How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Quantity Surveyor - Heavy Civils & Earthworks

    Location: Bristol
    Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Excellent Package

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a civil engineering contractor delivering a heavy civils and earthworks project in Bristol.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-profile infrastructure scheme, taking ownership of the commercial function from project commencement through to final account. The successful candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil engineering and extensive experience administering NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.

    The Role

    As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

    Leading the commercial management of heavy civils and earthworks packages.
    Administering NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including compensation events, early warnings and change management.
    Preparing and managing applications for payment, valuations and final accounts.
    Producing monthly CVRs, cost forecasts and commercial reports.
    Managing subcontract procurement, contract administration and final accounts.
    Identifying, managing and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities.
    Supporting project planning and ensuring commercial performance is aligned with programme delivery.
    Negotiating subcontract agreements and variations.
    Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and site teams to maximise project profitability.
    Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures and client requirements.
    Providing commercial support and mentoring to junior members of the commercial team where required.
    Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.

    Requirements

    Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector.
    Strong background delivering heavy civils, earthworks or major infrastructure projects.
    Essential experience working with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
    Proven experience managing subcontractor accounts, CVRs, cost reporting and final accounts.
    Excellent commercial, contractual and negotiation skills.
    Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred).
    Full UK driving licence.
