How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Primary Teaching Assistant
    Derby City Centre, DE1 (commutable from Chaddesden, Normanton, Littleover, Mackworth, Alvaston)
    £110-£120 per day
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

    Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Derby City Centre from September 2026.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Teaching Assistant looking to become part of a supportive school community where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. Working closely with class teachers and the wider support team, you will help deliver engaging learning experiences, provide tailored support to pupils and contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

    The school is looking for someone who is proactive, reliable and committed to making a genuine difference to children's educational journey.

    About the Role

    As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will:

    Support teaching and learning across the primary age range, adapting to the needs of different classes where required
    Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum learning
    Reinforce classroom learning through engaging and interactive activities
    Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND where appropriate
    Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils to develop confidence and independence
    Prepare classroom resources and assist with the organisation of learning activities
    Monitor pupil engagement and progress, providing feedback to teachers
    Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents to support children's academic and personal developmentThis is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and is passionate about helping every pupil succeed.

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school
    Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
    Experience delivering interventions and supporting pupils in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
    Experience supporting pupils with SEND is advantageous
    Strong communication and behaviour management skills
    Patient, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationships
    Committed to a long-term role and becoming a valued member of the school community
