How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

    Our client, a fine art logistics specialist based in Hertfordshire, is looking for a skilled Case Maker to join their Wood Shop team on a 6-12 month contract, covering a long-term absence within the team - with a genuine chance this becomes permanent depending on workload.

    You'll be building bespoke cases, crates and plinths used to safely transport and store valuable fine art and objects, working closely with Fine Art Technicians, Project Managers and Shipping teams to get every build right.

    What You'll Be Doing

    * Designing, manufacturing and assembling bespoke fine art cases, crates and plinths to project requirements

    * Interpreting drawings, measurements and specifications to produce accurate, fit-for-purpose solutions

    * Selecting the right materials - timber, plywood, foam and specialist protective materials - to keep artwork safe and secure

    * Operating hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery to a high standard of craftsmanship

    * Keeping accurate records of builds, dimensions and materials used

    * Maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop in line with Health & Safety requirements

    What We're Looking For

    * Solid experience in carpentry or joinery is essential

    * Confident interpreting technical drawings and working to precise measurements

    * Comfortable using hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery

    * A real eye for detail and pride in high-quality workmanship

    * Able to work independently, solve problems practically, and manage your own workload

    * Forklift experience is a bonus but not essential

    What's On Offer

    * £15 per hour

    * 45-hour week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

    * 6-12 month contract with strong potential to become permanent

    * The chance to work on genuinely interesting, high-value projects within a specialist industry

    If you've got a background in carpentry or joinery and fancy putting those skills to use protecting fine art rather than building furniture, we'd love to hear from you
