How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assistant Team Manager
    Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
    Salary: £46,142 - £49,282 per annum (pay award pending)
    Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours per week)
    Newcastle Fostering Service is excited to invite applications for the new role of Assistant Team Manager within our Placement Resource Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a service that is ambitious for children, committed to high-quality practice, and passionate about securing the right homes for every young person who needs one.
    About the Role
    As Assistant Team Manager, you will play a key part in ensuring children and carers receive the best possible service. Working closely with Placement Officers, Supervising Social Workers, colleagues across Children’s Services, and partners in commissioning and independent provider teams, you will help oversee:
    * Accommodation searches
    * Linking and matching activities
    * Decision-making that prioritises children’s needs, safety, and wellbeing
    You will also support the Team Manager by providing day-to-day leadership, advice, and professional guidance. This includes supervising staff, contributing to service development, and deputising for the Team Manager when required. The role may involve some unsociable hours, and a flexible approach is essential to meet the needs of children and carers.
    About You
    To apply, you must:
    * Hold a recognised social work qualification
    * Be registered with Social Work England
    * Have at least three years’ post-qualifying experience
    You will bring:
    Strong knowledge of current legislation, guidance, and best practice
    Well-developed skills in direct work with children and carers
