How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Principal C&I Engineer

    Manchester (Hybrid - 3 Days Office / 2 Days Home) | Up to £65 per Hour Ltd (Outside IR35) | 12-Month Contract | 40-Hour Week | ASAP Start

    We're recruiting for an experienced Principal C&I Engineer to support a major nuclear fuel enrichment programme. This is a long-term contract offering hybrid working and a competitive £65 per hour Ltd (Outside IR35) rate.

    The Role

    You'll lead C&I design activities across the full project lifecycle, providing technical leadership, managing multidisciplinary interfaces, reviewing and approving designs, and mentoring engineers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions on safety-critical projects.

    Essential Experience

    Extensive C&I engineering design experience across the full project lifecycle.
    Strong knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (IEC 61511 & IEC 61508).
    Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
    Knowledge of instrumentation installation within hazardous/explosive process environments.
    Understanding of ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive and EMC Compliance.
    Experience with engineering risk management, HSE requirements, project reporting, KPIs and change management.
    Good understanding of UK engineering regulations, including CDM.
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    Current SC or BPSS Clearance, or the ability to obtain SC Clearance.

    Desirable

    Previous experience working on nuclear fuel enrichment projects or within the wider nuclear industry.
    Experience working on highly regulated process plants.
    Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
    Valid Safety Passport or equivalent.

    Qualifications

    Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.

    Duration: 12 months
    Hours: 40 per week
