The Opportunity
We are currently working with a well-established and highly regarded MEP contractor based in Essex, with a strong reputation across the industry and an excellent track record of delivering technically complex projects.
The business has a turnover of approximately £15 million, with a team of around 60 employees, and is recognised for its strong staff retention, professional working environment and long-standing client relationships.
Due to continued growth within the Data Centre sector, they are looking to appoint an experienced Head of Projects to take responsibility for the successful delivery and commercial performance of a portfolio of major projects across London and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Lead / Senior Project Manager who is ready to take the next step into a senior leadership position within a growing and financially strong MEP contractor.
The Role
As Head of Projects, you will take a senior role within the business, overseeing the successful delivery of multiple MEP projects, with a particular focus on Data Centre developments.
You will provide leadership to Project Managers and Project Leads, while maintaining responsibility for project delivery, client relationships, commercial performance, programme, quality and health & safety.
The successful candidate will be commercially aware, technically strong and capable of managing complex MEP projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the delivery of multiple MEP projects within the Data Centre sector.

Provide leadership, mentoring and support to Project Leads and Project Managers.

Take overall responsibility for project delivery, programme, quality and commercial performance.
*
Manage key client, consultant and principal contractor relationships.
*
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required specification.
*
Review project programmes, resources, procurement and delivery strategies.
*
Work closely with the commercial and pre-construction teams to maximise project performance.
*
Identify and manage project risks, variations, opportunities and commercial exposure.
*
Ensure effective communication between site teams, project management, commercial teams and senior management.
*
Assist with the continued development and growth of the Data Centre division.
*
Contribute to strategic decision-making at senior management level.
About You
We are looking for an experienced MEP professional with a proven background within Data Centres.
You will ideally have previously operated as a Project Lead, Senior Project Manager or Project Manager on significant MEP projects and be ready to take on greater responsibility across a wider portfolio.
Essential experience:

Proven experience working within the Data Centre sector.

Strong background within MEP contracting.

Previous experience operating as a Project Lead / Senior Project Manager.

Experience managing large and technically complex MEP projects.

Strong understanding of project delivery, commercial management and programme control.

Ability to lead project teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
*
Strong client-facing and communication skills.
*
Commercially astute with the ability to identify opportunities and manage risk.
*
A track record of delivering projects successfully from inception through to completion.
What's On Offer?
£95,000 basic salary + an extremely attractive commission / bonus package.
The business operates a very healthy performance-related commission structure, with some of their existing Project Leads earning between £30,000 and £200,000 in annual bonuses, depending on project performance and results.
This is therefore not simply a £95k salary opportunity — it has the potential to become a significantly higher-earning senior position for the right individual.
