How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Why choose our Client?

Set in the picturesque Surrey countryside, near Dorking, our client is a popular country house hotel. The hotel has a bustling C&B trade, catering for weddings, conferences and special events for up to 250 covers.

The main restaurant is open for both breakfast and dinner, offering diners an array of mouthwatering modern British meals from their à la carte menu. Dishes are made using locally sourced produce. A typical Saturday evening can see the restaurant catering for 100 covers or more, whilst a separate all-day dining menu runs from the bar area, offering guests a selection of lighter meals and snacks.

The afternoon tea trade here is becoming increasingly popular, with a selection of savoury and sweet treats offered.

The hotel has good public transport links with a bus stop at the end of the driveway, too.

Please note that staff accommodation is not available with this role; therefore, applicants should only apply if they can commute to the Dorking area of Surrey daily.

    What's involved?

As an experienced Pastry Chef de Partie, you'll take ownership of the pastry section, producing beautifully finished desserts, pastries and baked goods that delight every guest. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a professional kitchen where creativity is encouraged, quality is everything, and no two days are quite the same.

You'll lead the day-to-day running of the pastry section, delivering consistently high-quality desserts and baked creations, prepare, bake and plate dishes with precision, ensuring every item leaves the kitchen looking and tasting its very best. As Pastry Chef de Partie, you will keep your section organised, well-stocked and service-ready, making every shift run smoothly, and you will work closely with the wider kitchen brigade to ensure seamless communication and perfectly timed service. You will help to develop exciting new desserts, seasonal specials and creative menu ideas whilst monitoring stock levels, minimising waste and ensuring ingredients are always available when needed. At all times, you will maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout your workspace and equipment, and follow all food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures to the highest standard.

The successful Pastry Chef de Partie will bring both skill and enthusiasm to the kitchen and will be willing to share their knowledge with more junior chefs; offering support and helping the team to grow. You will have previous experience as a Pastry Chef de Partie or in a similar pastry-focused role within a busy professional kitchen, a genuine passion for pastry, baking and creating memorable dining experiences, excellent organisation skills and the ability to thrive during busy services, creative flair with a strong eye for detail and presentation, a positive, team-focused approach and a solid understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen best practices.

Please note that staff accommodation is not available with this role; therefore, applicants should only apply if they can commute to the Dorking area of Surrey daily.
