Field Service Engineer – Industrial Adhesive & Dispensing Systems

Location: Greater Manchester (covering the North of England)

Salary: £40,000–£43,000 + 10% annual bonus

Package: Hybrid company vehicle (available for business and personal use), overnight allowance, pension and training programme.

The opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a global leader in industrial dispensing, fluid management and adhesive application technology.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a hands-on role, working directly with customers to install, maintain and repair specialist machinery used within manufacturing environments across a wide range of industries.

While previous experience working with adhesives or dispensing systems would be advantageous, it certainly isn't essential. We are far more interested in speaking with engineers who possess strong mechanical knowledge, a solid understanding of electrical systems and previous experience working with industrial machinery.

Full product training will be provided through a dedicated programme delivered within the company's specialist applications laboratory.

The role

You will be responsible for installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining integrated adhesive application equipment and dispensing systems at customer sites throughout the region.

This position combines planned preventive maintenance, fault finding, system optimisation and customer training, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and reliably.

The work can be physically demanding and, at times, involve working in challenging industrial environments. Engineers should therefore be comfortable carrying out practical, hands-on work, including working around heated equipment, adhesives and production machinery.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Installation and commissioning of equipment at customer sites.

* Preventive maintenance and breakdown repair activities.

* Mechanical and electrical fault finding.

* Reading engineering drawings and electrical schematics.

* Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

* Supporting customers with equipment optimisation and process improvements.

* Delivering customer training following installations.

* Completing service documentation and technical reports.

* Working closely with the sales, projects and applications teams.

About you

We're interested in hearing from engineers who have experience in areas such as:

* Packaging machinery.

* Capital equipment.

* Food processing equipment.

* Printing and labelling machinery.

* Conveyors and automation systems.

* Manufacturing machinery.

* Robotics and automated production equipment.

You will ideally possess:

* Experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Commissioning Engineer.

* Strong mechanical aptitude and practical engineering skills.

* Exposure to electrical fault finding.

* Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

* Experience reading technical drawings and wiring diagrams.

* PLC exposure would be beneficial.

* Excellent customer-facing communication skills.

* A full UK driving licence.

Travel

Most work will be carried out across the North of England, with the majority of sites being comfortably accessible from the Greater Manchester area.

The role occasionally requires overnight stays, particularly when supporting larger installation projects. Typically, engineers can expect to stay away from home for two or three nights per week when required, rather than undertaking lengthy daily travel.

Additional payments are provided for overnight stays.
