What you’ll be doing as a Maintenance Supervisor:
The Maintenance Supervisor will ensure that auxiliary power assets are operationally ready by supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities of contractors delivering power maintenance services. In this role you will ensure activities are completed safely, to the required quality standards and in line with resilience objectives.
As Maintenance Supervisor you will be responsible for identifying risks, ensuring all power maintenance records are maintained and escalating issues or non‑compliance to team leaders.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a critical area of UK infrastructure and make a meaningful difference to customer outcomes and environmental protection. As the team grows, members will help shape future ways of working and bring their expertise to create lasting impact across Thames Water.
Base location: Location can be flexible for both London or Thames Valley (e.g., Hampton, Mogden, Reading & Basingstoke)
Working pattern or hours: 36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Key responsibilities:
Quality and Compliance: You will check the quality of completed maintenance work, ensuring compliance with procedures, safety standards and service requirements.
Contractor Oversight and Support: You will provide guidance and support to contractor teams, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Problem Solving: You will use judgement and analysis to resolve issues, escalate concerns and optimise resource use.
Communication and Stakeholder Coordination: You will exchange information with contractors, colleagues and stakeholders with tact and diplomacy to support smooth on‑site delivery and timely issue resolution.
What you should bring to the role?
Experience supervising or coordinating contractor teams in mechanical engineering and/or maintenance.
Strong understanding of maintenance procedures and safety standards.
Demonstrable experience in quality checking, compliance monitoring and escalation.
Further qualifications in contract management or asset management (desirable).
The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is:
Good understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and maintenance procedures.
IT literacy for record keeping and reporting.
Full UK Driving License.
