A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to join their team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of complex engineering projects within a highly regulated environment.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing site capital projects, leading a team of Project Engineers, and ensuring engineering solutions are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing project delivery, and driving continuous improvement across engineering activities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Project Engineering team, providing technical leadership, coaching, and support
Manage engineering projects from concept through to completion, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
Develop project plans, allocate resources, and coordinate activities across multiple engineering disciplines
Monitor project costs, manage scope changes, and maintain effective budget and schedule control
Oversee engineering design activities, ensuring solutions meet safety, compliance, and operational requirements
Manage engineering changes through formal change control processes
Act as a key interface between engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to support successful delivery
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards
Manage contractor performance to ensure safe, compliant, and timely project execution
Support post-project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant industry experience
Proven experience managing engineering projects within a complex or regulated environment
Strong leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop engineering teams
Broad knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering practices and standards
Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and risks
Experience with design reviews, engineering change processes, and technical governance
Strong understanding of health, safety, and risk management principles
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to build strong working relationships and influence across all levels of an organisation
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Desirable experience:
Recognised project management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
Experience in safety-critical or highly regulated industries
HAZOP knowledge or process safety experience
NEBOSH qualification
Contractor management experience
