How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    EHS Lead | Northumberland | £120,000–£140,000+ Basic + Vehicle + Bonus + Accommodation | Major Data Centre Project

    Our client is a leading international main contractor with an exceptional track record of delivering some of the world's most complex and technically advanced construction projects. Due to continued growth within their mission-critical division, they are seeking an experienced EHS Lead to join one of the UK's flagship new-build data centre developments in Northumberland.

    This is a rare opportunity to take a senior leadership role on a landmark project, helping to shape and drive the Environmental, Health and Safety strategy across a major construction programme. Reporting directly to the Project Lead and the company's EHS Director, you will be responsible for leading the project's EHS function and ensuring the highest standards of safety performance are maintained throughout the lifecycle of the development.

    The Role

    As EHS Lead, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all Environmental, Health and Safety activities on the project.

    This role requires a highly visible leader who can influence at all levels, drive behavioural safety initiatives and ensure world-class EHS standards are achieved on one of the UK's most significant construction projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Develop and implement project-specific EHS strategies, policies and procedures.
    * Drive a proactive behavioural safety culture across the project and wider supply chain.
    * Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, company standards and client requirements.
    * Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure EHS standards are consistently achieved across all work packages.
    * Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
    * Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
    * Produce regular EHS reports and performance metrics for senior management and the client.
    * Work closely with project leadership teams to identify and mitigate project risks.
    * Champion continuous improvement initiatives across environmental, health and safety performance.

    About You

    We're looking for a proven EHS leader with experience managing health, safety and environmental performance on major construction or infrastructure projects.

    You will have:

    * A proven track record working for leading main contractors or major infrastructure contractors.
    * Experience leading EHS on projects valued at £150 million+.
    * Strong people management and leadership experience.
    * Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
    * A thorough understanding of construction health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice.
    * Experience managing subcontractor compliance across complex project environments.
    * Strong auditing, incident investigation and risk management capabilities.

    Desirable Experience

    Previous experience within any of the following sectors would be advantageous:

    * Data Centres
    * Mission Critical Facilities

    However, candidates with a successful track record leading EHS on major construction or infrastructure projects for recognised contractors are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Qualifications

    * NEBOSH Diploma, Degree or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
    * Chartered Membership of IOSH or working towards Chartered status would be highly desirable.
    * Relevant environmental qualifications would be advantageous.

    Salary & Benefits

    * Basic salary in the region of £120,000–£140,000+
    * Company vehicle or vehicle allowance.
    * Performance-related bonus.
    * Comprehensive benefits package.
    * Accommodation provided for candidates relocating or travelling from outside the local area.
    * Opportunity to work on one of the UK's flagship mission-critical construction projects.
    * Long-term career opportunities within a growing international contractor.
    * Exposure to a major pipeline of future data centre projects across the UK and Europe.
