How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title:            Lead Maintenance Engineer

    Location:            Wigan (WN3)

    Salary:                 Up to £45,000 per annum

    Hours:                 Monday- Friday 06:00- 15:00

    Contract:            Permanent

    Our client is a well-established chemical manufacturing company who supply high-quality products and bespoke manufacturing solutions to customers across a wide range of industries are looking for an experienced Lead Maintenance Engineer.

    With a hands-on, proactive approach you will oversee all maintenance activities on site. You will play a key role in ensuring the manufacturing and filling equipment operates safely, reliably, and effectively while leading continuous improvement across the maintenance function. 

    As a Lead Maintenance Engineer your duties will be: -

    Carry out hands-on mechanical maintenance and fault finding (electrical experience is desirable).

    Develop and manage preventive maintenance programmes.

    Lead and coordinate all planned and reactive maintenance activities.

    Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, including PLC-controlled equipment were applicable.

    Lead and support the maintenance team, reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability.

    Maintain maintenance records and ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.

    Source equipment, spare parts, and maintenance supplied as required.

    Support, coach, and develop maintenance team members.

    The successful Lead Maintenance Engineer will have the following skills: - 

    Proven maintenance experience within a manufacturing, chemical or process environment.

    Strong mechanical skills with electrical knowledge (PLC experience would be advantageous).

    Experience leading and supervising a maintenance team.

    Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.

    Good communication and organisational skills.

    Competent IT skills for maintaining maintenance records.
