How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Shift Supervisor

    Job Category: Permanent

    Salary: £60,000 + bonuses

    Position Type: Full-time (55 hours per week)

    Location: Heathrow area (UK)

    Travel Required: Some travel required

    Reports to: Company General Manager

    Responsible for:

    Daily shift production
    Staffing on shift
    General site direction

    Company Overview

    One of the largest solid recovered fuel (SRF) producers in the UK, with state-of-the-art reprocessing capabilities. The business produces main-burner SRF, helping suppliers and customers reduce environmental impact by decarbonising waste and reducing landfill-diverting carbon-rich waste into SRF as a coal replacement fuel.

    Job Description

    As Shift Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day running of operations during your shift, ensuring the smooth and safe functioning of the site. This includes effective supervision of personnel, maintaining production standards, and ensuring adherence to all safety and compliance protocols.

    Key Responsibilities

    Act as the primary shift lead, ensuring the General and Production Managers are kept informed of key operational updates.
    Take full ownership of shift activities, including workforce supervision, output quality, and production targets.
    Drive high standards across all processes in line with company procedures, performance metrics, and safety systems.
    Coach and develop direct reports, building strong leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
    Monitor shift performance and identify opportunities to maximise efficiency and reduce downtime.
    Maintain clear and timely communication across teams, including comprehensive shift handovers.
    Complete all documentation accurately and promptly.
    Enforce and promote a safety-first approach, proactively addressing risks in line with company H&S policies.
    Lead problem-solving and root-cause analysis, taking swift and effective action to resolve issues.
    Collaborate with other Shift Supervisors to maintain consistent operations across all shifts.
    Support ongoing training and development to meet current and future operational needs.
    Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support company growth.
    Uphold housekeeping and cleanliness standards to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
    Use company resources responsibly to support cost-effective operations.
    Act as a role model and ambassador for company values, policies, and procedures.

    Experience

    Minimum experience supervising in a high mass-volume processing facility
    Engineering / Maintenance / Electrical experience
    Strong management skills
    Experience within the waste/recycling industry
    Experience running equipment and plant/facilities

    Qualifications & Education Requirements

    Good standard of written and spoken English
    Good working knowledge of Health & Safety and a strong Health & Safety culture

    Key Skills & Attributes

    Fluent in English (spoken and written)
    Strong time management and organisational skills
    Flexible with shift patterns and working hours
    Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities
    Self-motivated, proactive, and goal-driven

    Additional Notes

    As Shift Supervisor, you are a critical leader in the daily operation of the facility. You will ensure the plant is optimised to process materials efficiently for a minimum of 55 hours per week. Collaboration and communication are key to embedding a safety-first culture and maintaining operational excellence. You will be expected to lead by example, proactively promote best practices, and challenge unsafe behaviours or process inefficiencies when necessary.
