How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Here's a fully reworked version with fresh wording and a stronger development focus:

A specialist cost consultancy in London is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its high-performing team. This is a strong opportunity for a developing surveyor to gain exposure to major projects across commercial, residential, hospitality, life sciences, and mixed-use sectors while working within a business known for technical quality and strong client relationships.

The successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the delivery of projects across both pre- and post-contract stages. You will assist with cost planning, procurement, tendering, valuations, change control, and reporting, while working closely with senior surveyors, clients, and wider design teams.

This role would suit an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor who already has some consultancy experience and is ready to build greater confidence, take on more project responsibility, and progress towards MRICS within a structured and supportive environment.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities:

Assisting with cost plans, estimates, and early-stage budget advice

Supporting tender preparation, procurement, and contractor analysis

Helping manage valuations, variations, and change control

Producing cost reports and maintaining accurate project records

Attending client meetings, design reviews, and site visits

Supporting final account preparation and project close-out

Working alongside senior team members across multiple live schemes

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Candidate Requirements:

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline

Previous experience within a UK consultancy environment

Exposure to both pre- and post-contract cost management

Working towards MRICS or keen to begin the APC process

Strong numerical, communication, and organisational skills

Commercially aware, proactive, and keen to take on responsibility

    In Return:

    £40,000-£45,000 per annum

25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays

    Hybrid and flexible working arrangements

    Structured APC support and mentoring

    Pension scheme

    Private healthcare

    Professional membership fees paid

    Exposure to high-profile London projects

Clear progression towards Project Quantity Surveyor

If you are an Assistant Quantity Surveyor considering your career opportunities, then please contact Dan McEvoy at Brandon James.
