How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Private Sector Building Safety Manager to join a leading reputable local authority on the private rented sector, responsible for ensuring the safety, compliance, and effective management of high-rise residential buildings (HRBs) and mid-rise residential buildings (MRRBs).

    Building Safety Manager – High Rise Residential Buildings (Private Sector)Location: London / Hybrid (4 days per week office-based)
    Contract: Temporary Assignment
    Flexibility: x4 days on site
    Pay Rate: £38.87 PAYE / £50.00 Umbrella per hour - 360 a day/Umbrella
    DBS Requirement: Basic DBS Required

    The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering robust building safety standards, ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, fire safety legislation, and housing regulations. You will work collaboratively with internal teams, residents, contractors, consultants, and key external stakeholders to maintain a proactive approach to resident safety and regulatory compliance.

    This role requires a strong technical understanding of fire safety, building regulations, risk assessment, enforcement processes, and the Golden Thread of building safety information.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Undertake inspections of High-Rise Buildings (HRBs) and Mid-Rise Residential Buildings (MRRBs), identifying building safety risks, hazards, and areas of non-compliance.
    Apply extensive knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, including the use of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) in relation to fire safety within residential buildings.
    Support compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, including understanding and application of:
    Remediation Orders
    Remediation Contribution Orders
    Accountable Person and Building Safety Manager responsibilities
    Maintain and support the delivery of the Golden Thread of Building Safety Information, ensuring accurate records, reporting, and information management.
    Review and assess fire safety documentation, including:
    Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), Fire Risk Assessments of External Walls (FRAEWs), Fire Strategies, Intrusive survey reports, EWS1 forms and Fire safety certificates and maintenance records
    Evaluate external wall systems and associated risks, including:
    External Wall Systems (EWS), Cladding systems, Insulation materials, Cavity barriers, Fire stopping and compartmentation, Passive and active fire safety measures
    Assess and interpret technical reports, ensuring appropriate remedial actions are identified and progressed.
    Take a holistic approach to building safety, considering the complete building system and resident safety rather than individual defects in isolation.
    Work with internal and external stakeholders including:
    London Fire Brigade (LFB), Greater London Authority (GLA), Building Safety Regulator (BSR), Homes England, Local authorities and government bodies and Specialist consultants and contractors
    Provide professional advice and guidance on building safety compliance, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
    Support enforcement activity where required, ensuring risks are appropriately managed and mitigated.Essential Experience & Skills:

    Proven experience working within building safety, fire safety, housing compliance, or residential property regulation.

    HHSRS (Housing Health and Safety Rating System)

    Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
    Fire Safety Act 2021
    Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022Experience inspecting HRBs and MRRBs, assessing hazards, identifying risks, and supporting enforcement action.
    Strong understanding of:

    Active fire safety systems,Passive fire protection, Compartmentation, Fire stopping, External wall systems Cladding and insulation risksAbility to critically review and challenge technical reports, including:

    FRAEW assessments, PAS 9980 assessments, EWS1 forms, Fire strategies, Intrusive inspection reportsExperience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to achieve improved building and resident safety outcomes.
