How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Housing Support Worker

    We are looking for an experienced Housing Support Worker to provide enhanced, proactive support to residents living in specialist temporary accommodation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong support work background who is confident working independently with customers and helping individuals and families move towards more stable and sustainable housing.

    The Role

    Provide one-to-one housing-related support to residents who may be at risk of homelessness.
    Build positive and professional relationships with customers, taking a tailored approach to their individual needs.
    Provide information, advice and guidance around housing, tenancy sustainment and accessing relevant services.
    Support customers to develop practical life skills and greater independence.
    Work closely with specialist colleagues, local authority partners and external agencies.
    Identify customers who may require additional support and help connect them with appropriate services.
    Encourage and support residents towards maintaining a sustainable tenancy and moving into permanent accommodation.
    Manage your own workload effectively and work independently with customers.
    Maintain accurate records and ensure customer needs and progress are appropriately documented.
    Promote a respectful, inclusive and customer-focused approach at all times.

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have:

    Previous experience working as a Support Worker, Housing Support Worker, Community Support Worker or similar.
    Experience supporting individuals or families who may be vulnerable or at risk of homelessness.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with customers.
    The confidence to work independently and manage your own workload.
    A patient, empathetic and non-judgemental approach.
    The ability to provide practical advice, guidance and encouragement to customers.
    Experience working with external agencies or partner organisations would be advantageous.

    Working Hours

    25 hours per week

    Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 2:00pm

    Office-based, 5 days per week

    £17.11 - £17.11 per hour
