How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you an experienced Toolroom Operative or Toolmaker looking to join a market-leading engineering business where quality, precision and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything they do?

Our client is seeking a skilled Toolroom Operative to join their Technical Centre, supporting the manufacture, maintenance and repair of tooling used across a busy production environment. This is a hands-on role where you'll work as part of an experienced team, ensuring tooling is produced and maintained to the highest standards while minimising production downtime.

    The Role

As a Toolroom Operative, you will:

Manufacture, maintain and repair press and shear tooling.
Carry out fault finding and tool modifications.
Operate both CNC and manual machine tools, including milling, turning, surface grinding and wire EDM.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, working to tight tolerances.
Support production by responding to tooling breakdowns and ensuring planned try-out dates are achieved.
Assist with continuous improvement activities across the Toolroom.
Work safely and maintain high housekeeping standards at all times.

    About You

We're looking for someone who has:

Previous experience within a Toolroom or Toolmaker position.
Strong knowledge of press and shear tooling manufacture and maintenance.
Experience using both CNC and conventional machine tools.
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
A high level of accuracy with excellent attention to detail.
A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to learn new machining techniques.
Experience with cut-off, pre-pierce or progressive press tooling would be highly advantageous.

    What's in it for you?

Salary up to £33,000 depending on experience.
Monday to Friday working hours (37-hour week).
33 days holiday including bank holidays.
    Company pension.
    Life assurance.
    Health cash plan.
    Discounted gym membership.
    Cycle to Work scheme.
    Employee Assistance Programme.
Genuine opportunity to develop your skills within a leading engineering and manufacturing business.
If you're an experienced Toolroom professional looking for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you
