How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your new company
    You will be working for a known organisation. The role is working remotely with the occasional travel into the London office. This role is inside scope of IR35 and is paying £550 per day. The duration is a 6-month rolling contract.

    Your new role
    Role OverviewIBM is seeking an experienced Application Consultant/Architect
    - AWS Cloud Migration to support the JSAPS Data Migration Discovery within the DWP's Legacy Tech Debt Programme.This programme is focused on identifying and defining the minimum viable dataset required to safely decommission JSAPS, a legacy benefits platform supporting Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). JSAPS forms a critical part of the UK's social security infrastructure, and the programme will play a key role in enabling DWP to eliminate dependency on the platform by March 2029.Working closely with IBM and DWP stakeholders, you will provide expert guidance on data migration strategy, helping to shape the safest and most pragmatic approach to migrating, archiving, or retiring data across a highly complex legacy estate comprising 54 Oracle database instances.
    Key Responsibilities

    Provide expert consultancy and leadership on data migration strategy and planning.
    Work directly with the organisation's teams to define the most appropriate approach for migrating data away from JSAPS.
    Assess and understand complex legacy application and database landscapes.
    Define migration approaches that maintain operational continuity and meet statutory and regulatory obligations.
    Develop and shape the overall migration roadmap, including key milestones, dependencies, and delivery considerations.
    Identify and mitigate programme risks associated with data migration and legacy system decommissioning.
    Support discovery activities to determine what data should be migrated, archived, or sourced from alternative systems.
    Engage with technical, operational, policy, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and validate migration assumptions.
    Provide assurance that proposed migration solutions are practical, achievable, and aligned to programme objectives.
    Essential Skills & Experience

    Strong experience delivering AWS cloud migration and data migration consultancy within large-scale enterprise environments.
    Proven ability to define migration strategies, approaches, and roadmaps for complex transformation programmes.
    Experience working with legacy applications and databases, including assessment of migration risks and dependencies.
    Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
    Experience supporting programme-level decision making through discovery, analysis, and migration planning activities.
    Strong understanding of data governance, operational continuity, and risk management considerations during migration programmes.
    Desirable Experience

    Experience leading data migration activities as part of legacy system decommissioning programmes within UK Government or wider Public Sector organisations.
    Experience working with large, complex legacy database estates where documentation is limited and SME availability is constrained.
    Experience defining minimum viable datasets and migration roadmaps.
    Ability to confidently engage with business, operational, policy, and technical stakeholder groups.
