How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Solar PV Electrician

    Yorkshire - Field Based

Up to £45,000 Basic + Company Van + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays + Excellent Benefits
Permanent | Full Time | 40 Hours per Week

Commercial Solar PV continues to be one of the fastest-growing areas of the building services industry, and due to a growing portfolio of Operations & Maintenance contracts, this business is looking to recruit an experienced Solar PV Electrician to join its specialist renewables team.

This is far more than a maintenance role. You'll be responsible for keeping large-scale commercial rooftop Solar PV systems operating at maximum performance, carrying out inspections, fault finding, testing, upgrades and remedial works across a diverse portfolio of retail and commercial sites.
If you enjoy fault finding, problem solving and working on technically varied electrical systems, this is an opportunity to build a long-term career within one of the UK's fastest-growing sectors.

    The Role

Working across commercial customer sites, you'll be responsible for the planned maintenance, inspection and repair of three-phase Solar PV installations.
Using both on-site testing equipment and remote monitoring platforms, you'll identify performance issues, diagnose electrical faults and carry out remedial works to ensure systems continue generating efficiently.
No two days are the same. One day you could be carrying out annual inspections on a large rooftop installation, the next replacing a faulty inverter, upgrading DC isolators or investigating reduced system performance.
You'll work closely with the wider Solar Operations & Maintenance team, producing detailed reports, advising customers on remedial works and helping maintain high standards of safety and compliance across every project.

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance on commercial rooftop Solar PV systems.
Complete electrical inspection and testing of existing Solar PV installations.
Diagnose AC and DC electrical faults using specialist Solar PV testing equipment.
Analyse on-site test results alongside remote monitoring data to identify performance issues.
Replace faulty inverters, DC isolators, AC isolators and damaged Solar PV modules.
Carry out LV electrical modifications and remedial works where required.
Identify underperforming strings and investigate generation losses.
Produce detailed maintenance reports, inspection records and photographic evidence.
Obtain quotations for replacement equipment and recommend system improvements.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with current electrical regulations, Health & Safety legislation and Permit to Work procedures.
Maintain excellent relationships with customers while representing the business professionally on site.

    What You'll Need

You'll ideally have experience working within commercial Solar PV or electrical maintenance and be comfortable fault finding on three-phase electrical systems.
We're particularly interested in engineers who have worked as a:

    Solar PV Electrician
    Solar Maintenance Engineer
    Solar O&M Engineer
    Electrical Maintenance Electrician
    Renewable Energy Engineer
    Solar Service Engineer
    You'll also need:

Experience working on commercial Solar PV installations.
Strong knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and LV installations.
Experience carrying out inspection, testing and fault finding.
Familiarity with Solar PV testing equipment such as the Seaward PV150 or similar.
Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
Ability to work safely at height on commercial rooftop installations.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Willingness to travel and occasionally stay away from home when required.
    Full UK Driving Licence.

    Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
    18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing or equivalent.
Solar PV qualifications would be advantageous.
Drone surveying experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

    What's On Offer

    Up to £45,000 basic salary
    Company van
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
    Birthday leave
Buy or sell up to three days annual leave
