How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Freelance Site Manager – New Build Housing

    Location: Okehampton, Devon
    Start Date: Thursday 6th August
    Contract: Freelance – 4 Weeks
    Rate: Competitive Daily Rate (CIS or Ltd Company)

    An immediate opportunity has become available for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to provide four weeks' holiday cover on a live residential development in Okehampton.

    Working for one of the UK's most respected national housebuilders, you'll be joining a well-established development delivering a high-quality collection of energy-efficient new homes. This is a hands-on site management role, requiring someone who can confidently oversee daily operations and maintain programme, quality and health & safety standards throughout the duration of the assignment.

    The Role

    You will be taking the day-to-day running of the site during this 4-week freelance contract. You'll coordinate subcontractors, monitor progress against programme, carry out quality inspections, ensure health and safety compliance, and maintain excellent site standards while supporting the successful delivery of the development.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage the day-to-day operation of a live residential construction site.
    Coordinate and supervise subcontractors to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
    Monitor programme and maintain productivity throughout the project.
    Carry out quality inspections and manage snagging where required.
    Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.
    Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and regular safety inspections.
    Liaise with the Project Manager and wider site team to ensure smooth project delivery.
    Maintain accurate site records, diaries and progress reports.
    Ensure work is completed to NHBC standards and current building regulations.

    Requirements

    Previous experience managing new build housing developments.
    Valid SMSTS.
    CSCS Card.
    First Aid at Work.
    Strong understanding of NHBC standards and current building regulations.
    Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
    Available to start on Thursday 6th August for the full 4-week freelance assignment.
    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Freelance Site Manager seeking a short-term contract with a leading national residential developer on a well-established live development.
