How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Altera Recruitment Group is working with an established engineering client delivering survey and design services across the water, wastewater and construction sectors.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Hydraulic Modeller to support the analysis and design of water and wastewater networks, producing hydraulic assessments, technical calculations and design documentation.

The business is open to candidates at all levels, from trainees and graduates through to experienced Senior Hydraulic Modellers. Training and technical development can be provided, while more experienced candidates will have the opportunity to take ownership of hydraulic input and support junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities for the Hydraulic Modeller:

    *

Carry out hydraulic modelling and fluid flow assessments across water and wastewater projects

    *

Produce hydraulic profiles, design briefs, technical calculations and engineering reports

    *

Develop and maintain hydraulic models using HADES and other relevant software

    *

Review flow survey data, identify network constraints and assess potential design solutions

    *

Work with clients, site teams, BIM and CAD professionals to ensure modelling information is incorporated into project designs

    What We're Looking For:

    *

An HNC, HND or degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

    *

An understanding of flow and pressure principles, with an interest in water and wastewater networks

    *

Experience in hydraulic modelling, pumping systems, mechanical design or fluid flow would be advantageous

    *

Strong organisation, attention to detail and written communication skills

    *

A proactive approach with the ability to work effectively alongside technical and project teams

    What You'll Get:

    *

Salary of £35,000 to £55,000 depending on experience

    *

Training and technical development within a specialist engineering team

    *

Clear progression into Hydraulic Modeller, Senior Modeller or Design Engineer positions

    *

A stable, long term opportunity with a consistent project workload

    *

Day to day flexibility within an office based role involving regular site visits
