How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job Title: Repairs Officer – Gas

    Job Overview

The Repairs Officer – Gas will support the operational management of housing repairs and maintenance services, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective, and customer-focused service. The role will oversee gas-related repairs, maintenance activities, contractors, and trade teams while ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and health and safety requirements.

The post holder will provide technical expertise, supervision, and operational support to ensure responsive repairs, planned maintenance, and compliance services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

    Key Responsibilities

The role will involve managing and coordinating repairs and maintenance activities, providing technical supervision to tradespeople and contractors, and ensuring all gas-related works comply with relevant legislation, including the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.

The post holder will undertake property surveys, inspections, and assessments, prepare technical specifications and reports, and maintain accurate records to support compliance and audit requirements.

The role will require effective contractor management, including monitoring performance, attending site meetings, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and within agreed service standards.

The Repairs Officer – Gas will support budget management, resource planning, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of housing maintenance services. The role will also involve supervising teams, supporting staff development, managing workloads, and ensuring excellent customer service delivery.

    Skills and Experience Required

The successful candidate will have a good general education, including GCSE Maths and English or equivalent, along with relevant technical qualifications and accreditation to supervise gas works.

Candidates should have experience within housing repairs, property maintenance, construction, or building services, with knowledge of gas safety compliance, health and safety legislation, and landlord responsibilities.

Experience managing repairs services, supervising trade teams, working with contractors, undertaking inspections, and managing high-volume workloads is essential.

The role requires strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, and collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, stakeholders, and customers.

Experience within social housing, local authority repairs, planned maintenance, responsive repairs, void management, contract management, or asset management would be advantageous.

    Additional Requirements

The post holder must maintain relevant professional qualifications and undertake ongoing training as required.

The role requires flexibility to attend occasional evening meetings, travel between sites, and hold a valid UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for business use
