How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    great opportunity has arisen for an experienced shift manager to join an expanding manufacturing company.

    Job Description:

    Lead and oversee all site operations during your shift.
    Ensure production and operational targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
    Allocate resources and manage workforce deployment to maximise productivity.
    Monitor site KPIs and implement corrective actions where required.
    Ensure compliance with operating procedures, site standards and regulatory requirements.
    Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues.
    Champion a safety-first culture across the site.
    Ensure compliance with COMAH regulations and company procedures.
    Act as the Site Incident Controller (SIC) during emergency situations.
    Support risk assessments and permit-to-work activities.
    Drive proactive hazard identification and risk management.
    Lead, motivate and develop shift teams to achieve high performance.
    Conduct shift briefings and communicate operational priorities.
    Support training, competency development and succession planning.
    Manage attendance, conduct and performance matters where required.
    Build a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.
    Ensure products consistently meet required specifications.
    Maintain accurate operational records, logs and compliance documentation.
    Investigate quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
    Support internal and external audits as required.
    Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability and productivity.
    Investigate operational issues and implement sustainable solutions.
    Support Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
    Analyse shift performance data and recommend improvements.
    Liaise closely with engineering, maintenance and technical teams.
    Coordinate maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
    Deliver detailed and effective shift handovers.
    Communicate site performance and operational updates to senior management.Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:

    Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory, shift leadership or operations management position.
    Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements within manufacturing environments.
    Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
    Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced operational setting.
    Strong understanding of manufacturing best practices and materials management systems.
    Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
    Experience working within a COMAH-regulated environment.
    Knowledge of batch and continuous chemical processing.
    Formal leadership or management qualifications.
    Continuous Improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent).Additional Details:

    4-on / 4-off rotating shift pattern
    Average 34.3 hours per weekAdditional Benefits

    Overtime available (not guaranteed)
    Monday-Friday: 1.5x rate
    Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays: 2x rate
    25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
