How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Sessional (18 hours per week) / Fixed term for 10 weeks

We have an exciting opportunity for a Multi-Skills Construction Trainer to lead an 8 week Multi-Trade Skills Bootcamp for up to 12 learners preparing for release from HMP High Down. If you are passionate about developing people, committed to achieving positive outcomes and want to make a genuine social impact through education, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your construction expertise to change lives by equipping learners with practical trade skills, confidence and the employability needed to secure sustainable employment, apprenticeships or further training on release. Delivering a blend of hands-on workshop sessions and engaging classroom learning, you will inspire learners across a range of construction disciplines while fostering professionalism, resilience and a positive attitude towards work.

    Why join us?

    * The opportunity to transform lives through education.

    * Working on an innovative, employer-led Skills Bootcamp.

    * Being part of a supportive and ambitious team.

    * Helping address construction skills shortages across Surrey.

    * Excellent professional development opportunities.

    What we are looking for:

    * Experience delivering practical construction training to adults in a workshop setting across two or more construction trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, drylining or multi-skills).

    * Experience supporting adults with barriers to learning, employment or progression.

    * Experience of working effectively with learners who may display challenging behaviours, maintaining positive engagement and promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.

    * Level 3 (or above) vocational qualification in Construction or a relevant construction trade.

    * Assessor Award (CAVA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent).

    * Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices within a construction workshop environment.

    * Resilient, adaptable and able to maintain professional boundaries whilst building positive and supportive relationships with adult learners.

    Duties/responsibilities:

    * Plan and deliver high-quality practical and classroom-based training across a range of construction trades, including carpentry, plumbing, drylining, wall installation and retrofit fundamentals.

    * Assess learners' knowledge, practical skills and workplace behaviours, providing constructive feedback and support throughout their learning journey.

    * Develop learners' confidence, resilience, employability and work-readiness to support successful progression into employment, apprenticeships or further training.

    * Work closely with prison staff, employers and college colleagues to ensure learners receive an outstanding learning experience and clear progression opportunities.

    * Embed health and safety, professional standards, sustainability and industry best practice into all aspects of delivery.

    * Monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records and contribute to funding, quality assurance and compliance requirements.

    * Support employer engagement activities, including employer talks, guaranteed interviews and progression opportunities.
