How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
    Location: Epsom, Surrey
    Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £95–£110 per day, dependent on experience

Are you passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children with special educational needs?
Can you provide the patience, encouragement and consistency that helps every learner thrive?
Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent?
TeacherActive is proud to be working with an outstanding SEND school in Epsom, which is looking to recruit dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join their team from September 2026. These are full-time, long-term opportunities with genuine potential to become permanent for the right candidates.

This welcoming and supportive school provides specialist education for pupils with a wide range of complex special educational needs. The staff are passionate about creating an inclusive environment where every learner is encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally. Working as part of a skilled multi-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in helping pupils achieve their full potential.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored one-to-one and small group support, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs while promoting confidence, independence and engagement. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver personalised support, implement positive behaviour strategies and encourage effective communication using specialist approaches where appropriate.

You will monitor and record pupil progress, contribute to creating a safe and stimulating learning environment, and support the preparation of specialist resources. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, resilient and committed to making a meaningful difference to the lives of children with complex additional needs.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

Experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a SEND school or supporting pupils with complex special educational needs
A strong understanding of a range of SEND, including autism, learning difficulties and communication needs
Experience supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and within small groups
Knowledge of positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting children's learning and wellbeing
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through TeacherActive
In return for the above, you can expect to receive:

A dedicated team of consultants to guide and support you throughout the onboarding process
Access to CPD courses and certificates through the My-Progression channel
    Competitive rates of pay
A long-term opportunity with the potential to secure a permanent position
TeacherActive Referral Scheme – Receive up to £100 when you refer a friend. Terms and Conditions apply
Our staff are paid on a PAYE basis, giving you peace of mind that the correct level of Tax and National Insurance is being paid, with no unexpected administration charges deducted from your hard-earned pay.
