TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEMH secondary school in Ipswich that is seeking an enthusiastic and committed PE Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, using sport and physical education to build confidence, resilience and positive relationships.
The Role:
As the successful PE Teacher, you will:
Deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils.
Adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH needs.
Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and self-confidence through physical activity.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress.
Organise and support extracurricular sports and enrichment activities where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to support pupils' academic and personal development.
Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment where every pupil can succeed.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Experience teaching PE at secondary level.
Experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour is desirable.
Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
A calm, patient and resilient approach.
A passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
